Visiting Birmingham & Central Alabama
Throughout the central Alabama’s diverse and expansive landscape, you’ll find a generous amount of premier attractions, fun events, and loads of festivals to explore. As fall yields to winter, central Alabama destinations like Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Gadsden all make for ideal destinations during your next visit.
Throughout the year, Birmingham boasts an impressive array of historic and must-see attractions. The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute will yield an edifying experience for all who visit, and the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame is a particularly ideal landing spot for those who love music. Check out these attractions, and more, during your fall or winter visit to Birmingham, and keep an eye out for some of this season’s most dynamic events and concerts.
Enjoy a live performance from the Alabama Ballet this fall. They’ll be performing their show titled “Home” from September 23rd to October 2nd at the Alabama Ballet Center for Dance. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m., save for the final show on October 2nd, which is a 2:30 p.m. matinee.
From Birmingham, you can easily explore the nearby city of Pelham. Visit on October 7th for your chance to see one of the most-anticipated rock concerts of the fall when Korn take to the stage. The show, part of the Nocturnal Underground Tour, will be held at Oak Mountain Amphitheatre, and will also features Breaking Benjamin, Motionless in White, and Silver Snakes.
During the fall and into the early parts of winter, Tuscaloosa is awash in Crimson red. This time of year, all eyes are focused on University of Alabama football. The Crimson Tide will play seven home games during their 2016 campaign, starting on September 10th when the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers visit Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Tide will wrap up their regular season at home on November 26th against in-state mega-rival Auburn University.
One of Tuscaloosa’s must-see, non-football related events is “Dance Alabama!” Presented by the University of Alabama’s Theatre & Dance, this event will be held at the Morgan Auditorium now through April 1st, 2017. Make the short drive in from nearby Northport and experience a dazzling display of student-choreographed dance numbers, including ballet, hip-hop, and classical.
