Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site
Located in Alabama's southern region, the Tuskegee Airmen Historic Site is the original birthplace of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen. The site is southwest of Opelika, near the Tuskegee National Forest, and it includes two hangar museums, wayside exhibits, ranger-led programs, and more – all showcasing the legacy of one of the first equal-opportunity ventures in the United States.
Schedule time to visit the Hangar #1 and #2 Museum – both house two World War II-era training aircraft and exhibits on the sights and sounds of the Airmen's training days at Moton Field. Don't forget to view video and wayside exhibits or stop by the annual fly-ins, held on Memorial Day and Labor Day.
