Horseshoe Bend National Military Park
Commemorating the Creek War of 1814, Horseshow Bend National Military Park features over 2,000 acres of southern Alabama scenery. The park is located northwest of Opelika, and gets its namesake from the horseshoe bend along Tallapoosa River the park sits on.
Today, visitors can learn about the Creek War by viewing the orientation film, the Battle of Horseshoe Bend, in the visitor center's auditorium. Outdoor activities include the three-mile drive tour, hiking, picknikcing, and launching boats into the river at nearby Mill Bridge Boat Ramp.
